Incarceration
Dorado has a large prison complex known as Sisika, this was originally an army fort that was then converted into a prison to house the growing number of prisoners in Dorado due to frequent uprisings and rebellion, as well as the criminal elements that have always been present in the region, and moved up from the south due to the territory's status and the lack of proper law enforcement in the region. Over time the prison fell into disrepair but has recently begun work to restore it for use as Dorado has gained independence and the need for a proper prison to handle criminals and prisoners of war for the territory. The prison is located on an island in the middle of a large river making it difficult to escape from, and the only way to access the prison is by boat.
Prison Life
Prisoners will be subject to the rules and regulations of the prison, and will be required to follow the orders of guards and marshals who have jurisdiction over the prison. Prisoners will have access to food, clothing and even simple tools in order to work off their sentences, but this freedom comes with harsh penalties for those who break the rules or commit crimes while in the prison.
Debtors Prison
The prison will also house those who have been unable to pay their debts to the bank, and will be required to work off their debts in the prison. Debtors may be permitted to leave the prison for more relaxed work duties around the territory, and even get assigned to work for a business or individual to pay off their debts so long as they have not also commited any crimes.
Prison Break
Players may attempt to break out of the prison, but this is a high risk activity that will require staff approval and support. Any attempt to break someone out of prison otherwise will be subject to disciplinary action and may have charges brought against their characters for the attempt.
Lifers
Some prisoners may be sentenced to life in prison, and will never be released. Players may apply to create lifer characters for RP, understanding they cannot be broken out or ever released from the prison. These characters will be there to engage with characters who work at the prison and those who are serving temporary time. Characters who have been sentenced to death or life in prison may choose to convert their character to a lifer.
